Merging African and American Influences: Teranga

By Anna Kunkel, The Seven Hills School

Teranga brings a whole new twist on African cuisine. From their Maffe to their Michoui Gigot, the charming Hartwell restaurant blends a variety of African and American influences into a delicious and eclectic menu. If my words won't sell it to you, check out a few of their 1,000+ reviews on Google.

Speaking with one of Teranga's employees, I learned a lot about the restaurant's history and cuisine. Founded in 2002 by Senegalese immigrants, Teranga has focused on fusing West African,  Caribbean, and American foods to bring "true culinary diversity" to Cincinnatians. The restaurant continues to employ immigrants from all over Africa and Jamaica. Their Maffe, a West African favorite, is a must for new customers.
